The Diputacion of Ourense and the Department of Aude, submitted, under the aegis of the Junta de Galicia, a project within the framework of the first call for projects of Interreg Sudoe.
“USE4FOREST” focuses on the development of fire prevention strategies in the Sudoe area through the improvement of forest areas, with main goals:
- Modify the norms/rules/laws/strategies related to the forecast, prevention and management of fires in the territories of the partners, based on the experience accumulated for the management of the same in recent years.
- Emphasize the procedure in rural areas of the interior of the country with a large presence of forest cover, where fires are an endogenous problem and which have a very aging population.
- Promote the adaptation of the natural environment of this territory and the activities developed in it to improve their resilience to climate change, promote the mitigation of its impact and improve its response capacity in emergency situations.
This project came joint first out of 144 applications submitted, of which 71 are authorized to move on to the second phase.
