“HELP WITH HOMEWORK”
In 2011, ”I. G. Sbiera” Library of Bucovina started “Help With Homework”, a project that targets children living in state-owned orphanages, whose access to education and culture is limited. With the help of volunteer teachers, the aim is to improve their learning performance and their self-confidence and to stimulate their intellectual potential. Every year, approximately 45 volunteer teachers were involved, giving weekly tuition to 40-50 children. After an interruption caused by the pandemic, this year we resumed the project on a smaller scale, with online tutors.
”As the initiator and coordinator of the project, I believe in its usefulness, education being for any child the starting point in the socio-professional achievement as an adult. A little help, at the right time, can change a person’s life. For this reason, the “Help With Homework” project will continue in the coming years.” (Nicoleta Tipa, librarian at ”I. G. Sbiera” Library of Bucovina, Suceava)
