Aude (FR), Maramureş (RO) and Tulcea (RO) Provincial Councils succeeded in mobilising and cooperating to help refugees and people left on the Ukrainian territory in very difficult war conditions. This mobilisation was possible thanks to the sharing of information within CEPLI and the political support of its president, André Viola, provincial councillor of Aude, member of the French delegation to the European Committee of the Regions, but also of the Romanian presidents Ionel Bogdan (Maramureş) and Horia Teodorescu (Tulcea) who were personally involved in this cooperation.
Principally, Aude and Tarn Provincial Councils, and local Civil Protection services sent to Maramureş (the longest Romanian border with Ukraine) 4 humanitarian convoys with basic needs for the refugees and the affected Ukrainian population. The “Aude Solidarité” association, helping with the general effort, has also supported the actions deployed in Romania by giving a significant donation to the province of Tulcea (border with Ukraine, near Crimea) to increase the management of material aid arriving from France and other European countries.
